Reflecting on a Successful Trade Mission to Senegal: Building Bridges from Action to Success

This week, I had the honor of supporting a UK trade mission to Senegal, where we were joined by 53 exceptional delegates from the UK, who represented a wide range of sectors including finance, construction, agriculture, edutech and legal services. The opening remarks from the Dr Mabouba Diagne Ministre sénégalais de l’Agriculture, de la Souveraineté alimentaire et de l’Élevage was both powerful and insightful, and set out the vision of the Government in the agricultural sector.

We were privileged to have the UK Minister for Africa, Lord Collins, co-chaired  together with Dr. Serigne Gueye Diop  Ministre de l’Industrie et du Commerce, a highly productive Business-to-Government roundtable, further reinforcing the UK’s commitment to deepening ties with Senegal and the broader West African region. The level of energy over the three days was remarkable as the UK delegation engaged with a wide array of private and public sector stakeholders Dakar, fostering meaningful dialogue and partnership opportunities.

#Senegal continues to serve as a key gateway to #WestAfrica, with dynamic markets, a stable political environment, and ambitious reforms aimed at attracting investment in the #agricultural and #industrial sectors.

The UK-Senegal partnership is on a solid growth trajectory, reflected by the rise in trade between the two countries in recent years and how businesses are realising what we can achieve together.

Success on the continent is built on continuity, trust, collaboration, and a shared vision of mutual prosperity. This mission wasn’t just about fostering transactions—it was about building long-term partnerships that will shape the future. As we look ahead, I am looking forward to this years UK West & Central Francophone Africa Trade and Investment Forum this December in London.
